Finding your Gethsemane

Have you found a place where God speaks to you? I'm not necessarily talking about an audible, booming voice, but a place where you can find peace enough to hear the "still, small voice" that brings comfort to your soul. The place where you can sit in silence and speak directly to your creator.

My place is the ocean. There is something about the massive body of water, the wind whipping my curls into a dance and the freedom of bare feet that brings peace to my soul. I have had numerous God moments on the beach; one of which was back in 2007, when I felt the Lord calling me to the mission field.

We are inundated with distractions. Social media, smartphones and Words with Friends (or is it Candy Crush these days? Can't keep up) have taken over our lives; it's no wonder that we feel, at times, our prayers go unanswered. Sometimes we are not listening or unavailable to get an answer.

If you are in a place in your life where you really need to hear from the Lord, I would suggest finding a secret place of your own. Moses had a mountain. Elijah had a cave. Daniel had an open window. Christ had Gethsemane.

And I have the ocean...

What about you?

{Blessings}

  1. Man... powerful. Sweet memories of my churches sanctuary come to mind. When all were gone, it was all mine. Silence and the piano beneath my fingers were all that mattered. :-D Thank you for the post. I think I'm going to post a reply to this one.
